Kayseri Archeology Museum Tour: Kayseri Museum: During the museum studies after the declaration of the Republic, the works started to be collected in 1928 and were stored in Kayseri High School. The deputy of education of the period also visited Kayseri during his tour of Central Anatolia, where the governor and the director of education decided to establish a museum. After this, work to establish a museum in Huand Hatun Madrasa began. The works preserved in Kayseri High School were moved to the madrasah whose repairs were completed. Meanwhile, large-scale inscriptions were preserved in Sahabiye Madrasa.
Kayseri Museum was opened on March 1, 1930, and became a directorate in 1937. The chronological classification and arrangement of the works in the museum was made by H.H.Von der Osten. After this work was completed, the Kayseri Museum was reopened to visitors in 1938 with a new arrangement.
The density of artifacts in the Kayseri region and the Kültepe excavations showed that the Huand Hatun madrasah was not sufficient, so the land belonging to the old hospital building near Gültepe Park was expropriated. The construction of the new museum, the plan of which was drawn by Master Architect İhsan Kıygın, started in 1965, and after the works were moved here, the museum was opened to visitors in its new building on June 26, 1969.

Kayseri Surp Krikor Lusavoric Armenian Church: Today, seven churches are belonging to the Armenian community in Anatolia. The most important and oldest is the Surp Krikor Illuminator Armenian Church in Kayseri. Both tourists visiting Anatolia, those who come to visit the church for the feast, and even government officials, intellectuals, and tourism-related circles want to have information about this church. The church, whose foundations were laid in 1191, is one of the rare churches that has survived until today.
According to the 2011 Armenian Church calendar, these three important dates were determined as the imprisonment of St. Gregory the Illuminator in the well on April 9, his removal from the well in which he was imprisoned on June 25, and the discovery of his holy bones on July 9.
As we do every year, religious visits will be made to Kayseri Surp Krikor Lusavoriç Church twice in 2011, on April 1 and June 25.Kayseri Mother Mary Church - Kayseri City Library: Although this magnificent Church does not have a definitive inscription as to when and by whom it was built, it attracts attention with its 19th-century architectural features with a triangular pediment. This structure took its current form as a result of additions and repairs carried out between 1838 and 1875. Architectural Values and Plan Structure The church, which has a three-naved basilical plan in the east-west direction, stands out, especially with its striking entrance hall. The two-storey entrance space (narthex), consisting of three arches resting on four columns, presents the entrance of the church with a special emphasis.
Kayseri Roman Toub:The historical building, which survived from the Roman period, does not have an inscription. It is estimated that it was probably built in the 4th century during the Roman period. The tomb structure has a rectangular plan in the east-west direction. The structure was uncovered and restored in 1956. The east and west faces were built with triangular pediments. The building is entered through a door moved to the west end of the north façade. It is observed that the eaves have been activated with two rows of straight molding in the transition area to the upper cover. It is noteworthy that the wall carrying the triangular pedimented roof was built with two rows of stones, curved outward. The stones in the corners are arranged in the form of capitals with moldings. There are two ventilation windows on the east and west facades. There is no decoration on the triangular pediment surfaces. Although it was not possible to enter the building, its upper cover is thought to be a pointed vault. Gravestones dating back to the Islamic period, dated 1317-1318, were unearthed inside.
Yoğun bastion Kayseri city Walls: The building was known as a prison and government office from the 16th century. Today, culturally driven cafe services are provided. It is especially the meeting place for artists who continue the tradition of minstrelsy. The Arrow Bastion, which is a remaining part of the inner castle and the walls of the Seljuk Palace State House located here, is among the diversity of the castle. From the inscription on the castle part next to the bastion, it is understood that this part was built by the Anatolian Seljuk State Sultan Alaeddin Keykubad I in 1224. The second floor of the original two-storey tower has not reached decay. The arrangement of the tower consists of four iwans in a cruciform plan, covered with a cross vault. It has a usable area of approximately 200 square meters, the restoration of which was completed by the Chamber of Architects in 2005. Today, the horoscope is used for cultural purposes by Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality.

Kayseri Historical Talas Region Tour: Talas is an old settlement with its archaeological and historical urban values and an important historical city where life continues in its settlement. The settlement was established and developed in the arc surrounding the mountain, starting from the southeast of Ali Mountain and towards its eastern and northern skirts. The first settlement activities during the founding of the city date back to the first years of Christ. Over time, due to the growth of the settlement, the physical boundaries of our district and the historical neighborhoods that make up our district have changed. Today, Talas; It has an altitude of 1100 m and an area of 450 km² with 33 neighborhoods. Ali Mountain (1869 m), which is the most important natural monument of our historical city, is a cinder cone formed from three hills as a result of the volcanic activities of Erciyes Mountain (3916 m). The tough structure of the land formed due to volcanic activities and the workability of this structure were the primary reasons for choosing Talas for settlement.

List of the places you will visit
Talas Yaman Dede Mosque (Panaya Greek Church) The building is located on Karabey Street. The church, which was built by Metropolitan Ionnis during the reign of Sultan Abdülhamit in 1886, was converted into a mosque and opened for worship in 1925, when its ownership was transferred after the Greek citizens left Talas through population exchange. The Panaya Church, constructed in 1886 in the Tablakaya District of Talas, Kayseri, was originally a Greek Orthodox church. However, in 1925, after the local Greek population was displaced, the church was transformed into a mosque and named Yaman Dede Mosque. The conversion included the addition of a mihrab and pulpit, which now face south. Panaya Church (Yaman Dede Mosque) The mosque's architecture is captivating, with a magnificent staircase leading up to it from below. The surrounding area also boasts of several historical structures built by the Greeks in ancient times. Today, the mosque's terrace is lined with shops, serving as cultural centers for the community.
Talas Underground City (Ali Mountain Underground City): It is located on the slope rising towards Mount Ali. The history of the city dates back to the 3rd century AD. Sarnıç Underground City, which has been used since that date and covers a large area, was opened to visitors in 2010. Visitors have the opportunity to witness the past by exploring this historical and impressive underground city. Ali Mountain Underground City has an important position as it is the only cistern underground city in the region. Thanks to this feature, it attracts attention and is visited by many people every year. It is said that the cistern in the city dates back to the Byzantine Period, approximately 1300 years ago. This is an element that increases the historical and cultural value of Ali Mountain Underground City. By exploring this historical building, visitors can closely see the traces of the Byzantine Period and experience the atmosphere of the past.
kayseri Talas Enüdurlük Church: It is located in Kayseri province, Talas district, Endürlük neighborhood. It is a church that has been destroyed in places, is in need of repair, and is not used. Date: It was built between 1831-1835. Plan and architectural features: The church, located in the Endürlük neighborhood of Talas, is a Turkish Orthodox church that has survived to the present day with its inscription. The church is surrounded by high walls. The church, built on a plain, has a rectangular plan in the east-west direction. The main walls of the building are surrounded by semicircular and flat profile molding belts at the eaves. In the general appearance of the building, the triangular pediments crowning the facades attract attention. Halfway up the north and south facades of the building, there are porticoes that are extensions of the narthex in the west. There are 12 window openings arranged one above the other on the north façade. While the lower windows are rectangular in shape with round arches and triangular pediments, the upper windows are rectangular in shape and plain. The eastern facade of the building differs from the other facades with the semicircular projections of the aspis. There are two window openings in the middle apse and one in the side apses. While the windows in the main apse are rectangular in shape and have a triangular pediment, those in the side apse are rectangular in shape, with round arches and no pediment.
Talas Armenian, Greek Protestant School and Church, Kayseri: There are those who date the building, which does not have a historical inscription, to 1892, based on various sources. The exterior dimensions of the building, built in the north-south direction, are 7.75×13.10 m. The north wall of the building is crooked from the inside. The building is entered through a door placed on the south facade. The landing in front of this door is accessed by a seven-step staircase. It is entered by passing through a portico with a two-storey porch arranged like a bell tower in front of the door. The absence of any niche reminiscent of an apse on the eastern façade of the building, which was registered as a church by the Kayseri Preservation Board, reminds us that the building may have been a missionary school.
Talas Harman Mosque (Church Mosque) in Kayseri: Harman Mosque, located in the Talas district of Kayseri, was repaired in 1860 during the reign of Sultan Abdülmecit, according to its inscription. The exact construction date of the mosque is not known. It is said that it was previously built on a church. On the entrance door there is a five-line talik inscription in gold gilt on a purple background. There is the signature of Sultan Abdülmecid on this inscription. The mosque has a rectangular plan in the north-south direction and is made of cut stone. During the restoration work of the three-domed narthex in front of the mosque by the General Directorate of Foundations, the domes were removed and covered with a concrete ceiling. The narthex has a round arch with four columns. The place of worship is covered with a central dome. There is a round-bodied single balconied minaret on a quadrangular base next to the mosque, and it has been renovated recently.
Kayseri Talas Han Mosque (Church): This structure, located on Erhan Street in Talas district, Kayseri center, dates back to the 13th century. It is a Seljuk work of the 19th century. In 1899, II. It was built by Derviş Efendi as a two-storey building during the reign of Abdulhamid. The mosque is entered through a door with a triangular pediment and a flat lintel. The prayer hall, which has a square plan, is covered with a dome supported by pointed arches. The dome drum was kept high and 12 round-arched windows were opened in the drum. The lower floor of the mosque, decorated in Baroque style, was used as a Primary School. The inn next to the mosque was demolished. Once upon a time, the city of Kayseri was within walls. This inn was built to accommodate latecomers and travelers when the city gates were closed at night. Over time, when there was no need for an inn, this building was converted into a mosque and opened for worship. Since there is no inscription, we do not know the date when it was converted into an inn. For this reason, the name of the mosque was given as Han Mosque. The interior and exterior of the building were built entirely of local yellowish cut stones. After it was converted into a mosque, a minaret and mihrab were added. Its current doors were opened later. The mosque, which was repaired twice in 1273 and 1314, was used as an interim warehouse and was reopened for worship in 1950.
Historyin The Rocks; Talas Tol Church and Art gallery: The Adventure of the Meeting of Generations continues with History in the Rocks: Talas Tol Church. Tol Church, located in the Talas district of Kayseri, was built in the early Byzantine periods during IV. It was made as a rock carving in the 5th century. While the entrance of the church consists of three sections with pointed arches and three apses, the interior is in the form of a large-volume corridor with pointed arches called tol. The interior consists of four sections of different sizes and the transition between spaces is provided through arched doors. Tol Church, one of the oldest religious buildings in the Cappadocia region, was opened to visitors after the restoration works completed by Talas Municipality in 2013. We see the history that permeates nature, admire it, and pass it on to future generations and different cultures. There are settlements, churches, and monasteries carved into the valleys. In addition, today's residential areas are also very important in terms of architecture. Tavlusun was once a summer resort where bureaucrats in Kayseri lived. The names of the houses also show this. From these names, it is understood that the Kayseri governor of the time, the mayor, the Kayseri judge, and many prominent families lived here. Tavlusun was previously a place where Turks, Greeks and Armenians lived. This region, where mosques and churches are located side by side, is adjacent to Germir and Mimarsinan District, in the continuation of Talas and Derevenk Valley. There are 2 registered churches, 3 mosques, 4 fountains, 2 bridges, 1 aqueduct, 1 water well, 1 school and 1 prayer hall in its district.08:30 You will be picked up from your hotel for Kayseri Derevenk Valley, Tavlusun and Germir Tour.
List of the places you will visit
Derevenk Valley (Walking part): Derevenk Valley in Talas is very unknown, although it is very close to residential areas. Because, although there is no proper road to go to the valley, it is closed to vehicle traffic. It is ideal for those who will only walk and hosts those who make expeditions. Derevenk Valley stretches between Talas and Tavlusun Villages. Steep slopes and paths running along the edge of the cliff appeal to those who love adventure. Even though it is a difficult journey, it amazes you with the views it offers. Best of all, if you want to add some excitement to your exploration journeys in Kayseri, you should visit Derevenk Valley.
Tavlusun ( Agios Basileos ) Lower Greek Church in Kayseri: It is unknown when the Tavlusun Agios Basileos Church was built, but it is known that the building was repaired in 1819. Plan and architectural features: The building has a rectangular plan in the east-west direction. 14.00 x 17.00 m., internally 13.20 x 15.00 m. in size. On the west side of the north facade of the church, a two-room portico was created with pointed arches on three stone columns. The portico is covered with a pointed vault. The church, which consists of three naves, has a three-section narthex on the west façade. The north and south sides of the narthex are covered with a cross vault, and the middle section in the west is covered with a barrel vault. There is an entrance to the narthex from the north and west facades. The northern entrance was opened later. The north and south facades were later covered with walls.
Tavlusun Armenian Church, Kayseri Based on the fact that there was a repair edict dated 1835, it can be stated that the historical church took its current form in the first half of the 19th century. Plan and architectural features: The church, built in the north-south direction, is located in a courtyard. The upper cover is a pointed vault, supported by pointed arches placed on piers protruding from the east and west walls. On the belly of the arches, geometric decoration arranged in the form of diamond slices with blue and purple paints on plaster can be seen. It is noteworthy that on the northern façade where the apse is located, the apse floor is elevated from the floor of the worship space. It is noteworthy that the semi-dome-shaped upper cover of the apse was plastered and painted with predominantly blue paint, and the semi-dome was decorated in segments with black. While the sun motif symbolizing the Holy Spirit is depicted in the middle of the apse semi-dome, there are depictions of angels carrying pages from the Bible written in Armenian on the niches on both sides of the apse. Floral decorations with acanthus leaves are seen on the arch of the apse niche. In the circular medallions between the vaults, decorations consisting of objects such as crowns, books, crosses and plaques with Armenian writing can be seen. Predominantly shades of brown along with blue were used. It is noteworthy that the apse of the Armenian church in Tavlusun was built facing north rather than east (Jerusalem). It is understood that the church was directed to the Great Armenian Church in Yerevan. Decoration: The decorations in the building are mostly frescoes made with paint on plaster. Material and technique: Smooth cut stone was used throughout the structure.
Kayseri Germir Panagia Church: The church located on the valley slope that borders Germir from the west and the bell tower in the northwest looks quite impressive within the general architectural texture of the settlement. The inscription of the building is not in place. However, it is known that it was dedicated to the death of Mary and was built in 1837. The church, built with cut stones using the masonry construction technique, has a three-naved basilica scheme. A five-section narthex covered with a cross vault emphasizes the western entrance. There are side entrances at the western ends of the north and south walls. Additionally, entrance to the bema is provided from the north. The naves are separated from each other by two columns. The oval dome is crossed by pendentives between the 1st and 2nd columns of the central nave, and side naves; It is covered with a mixed system in which barrel and cross vaults are used together, and the west gallery is covered with cross vaults. The narthex and the gallery placed on the north and south walls surround the naos in a "U" shape. The church attracts attention with its neoclassical details and has simple facades.
Kayseri Germir Priest's House (old mansion): Germir houses have a very rich and colorful architecture due to the coexistence of different ethnic groups. It has character. They were built side by side on embankments in a rocky, narrow valley. They are often intertwined with the rocks they lean on. Import and export business in Germir. Famous merchants built magnificent stone mansions and houses with the money they earned, and paved all their avenues and streets.
Kayseri Germir School: According to the inscription on the entrance gate in the north, the school was built by Germirli İmamzade Ali Efendi in H.1329 (A.D. 1911) during the reign of Sultan Reşad, whose signature is engraved on the entrance portico.
Germir Historical Linseed Oil Mills Museum: The 'Germir Historical Linseed Oil Factory', which sheds light on 115 years of history in Kayseri, was restored and opened to visitors. Mimar Sinan House (House of Architect Sinan) The birthplace of Architect Sinan, a stone house in the Ağırnas District of Kayseri, has become a popular attraction due to its historical significance and impressive architecture. Sinan served as the chief architect during the reigns of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent (1520-66), Selim II (1566-74), and Murad III (1574-95).
Kayseri Agirnas Agios Prokopios Greek Church: It is known that there were two mosques, one church, two schools, and seven linseed oil mills in Ağırnas, which were severely damaged in the earthquake in 1835. The village is being built towards the north and northeast in parallel with the increasing population in recent years. Agios Prokopios Church, located in the north of the village and on the border of old settlements and new buildings, was built in 1857.
Ağırnas Underground City - Kayseri: Ağırnas, with its corridors, caves, and underground city ruins, is a settlement where people apparently lived at least 3 thousand years ago. There are no historical documents from the Seljuk Period regarding the history of Ağırnas, but there are records from the Ottoman Period. According to these records; Ağırnas in the census book made in 1500; It is a village of Koramaz District, one of the 9 districts in Kayseri, which is quite large both in terms of population and economy, with 53 Christianity households (Gebran household), 3 Muslim households, 2 mills, 4 linseed mills, and paying a tax of 18 thousand coins. has been recorded. Greeks constitute 95 percent of the town's population.
The fact that the village land is barren and volcanic is not suitable for agriculture and obtaining abundant productivity, and since agriculture must be done for one year and the areas to be cultivated in the second year must be left fallow, even in the most favorable conditions, the yield is very low, yielding five to one or seven to one, in order to ensure the livelihood of people. It caused them to respect other professions.
Fabrics woven in Ağırnas are at the top of the list of goods exported from Turkey to England in the 16th and 17th centuries. In particular, the thin, soft white cotton cloth called "Ağırnas Bull" is among the most sought-after commercial goods, especially in England, France and the Netherlands. This place was named Taşören between 1923 and 2003 and later reverted to its old name.
Ancient Kültepe Hittite City- Kayseri: Kültepe, where documents dating back 6 thousand years of Kayseri history were unearthed, is 24 kilometers away from Kayseri center. The ruins of administrative buildings, religious buildings, houses, shops, and workshops can be seen in the Kültepe Ruins, which consist of the mound, which is the ruin of the first city founded by the Hittites in Anatolia, and the Karum surrounding it.
The center of the large trade colonies established by the Assyrians was Karum in Kültepe and it ruled the other karums. Kültepe stands out as hosting the first written tablets in Anatolia and being the world's first organized trade center. These tablets, written in Assyrian cuneiform script, contain letters, deeds, seals, and agreement texts showing the political and legal relations of the period. The tablets in question were included in the UNESCO Memory of the World list in 2015.
Kültepe, which has a strategic importance on the trade route, maintained this feature for hundreds of years. Kültepe has been known since 1871, when the cuneiform documents identified as Cappadocia tablets, which were distributed to world museums and antiquities markets, first appeared. Karum, one of the important parts of Kültepe, was discovered in 1925. Excavations have been carried out in the region on behalf of the Turkish Historical Society and the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage and Museums since 1948. Artifacts and findings from the Assyrian, Young Hittite, Hellenic, Roman, Persian and Tabal periods were unearthed in Kültepe. These unearthed artifacts are exhibited in Kayseri Archeology Museum.
Gesi Vineyards and Pigeon Towers: It is known that in various parts of Anatolia, wild pigeons were raised according to a certain system in ancient times to meet the need for fertilizer to be used in vineyards and gardens. Pigeon manure is considered a very valuable fertilizer in terms of the substances it contains. In wild pigeon keeping, some structures are needed to ensure regular collection and accumulation of fertilizer. It can be said that there are three types of dovecotes with different architectural styles in our country. While Cappadocia dovecotes are in the form of chambers carved into the rocks, Diyarbakır Boranhanes are in the form of buildings made of mud bricks. The dovecotes we came across in GesiBağları were made of stone, which we can call 'tower type'. This type of dovecote is only found in GesiBağları in our country. The underground room located in the Gesi Bağları dovecotes is completely unique to our country and constitutes an important point of distinction from its counterparts abroad.
